Groupies!

I am the ninth grade counselor at Valley this year and I love my ninth graders. I have 4 boys who come to visit me every day after school and usually stay for an hour. Guillermo, Taylor, Nehemiah, and Malcolm are a lot of fun and I'm already sad that they will be leaving next year! They are known as "Ms. White's Groupies" throughout the office and they are granted immediate access to my office right after school. They tell the funniest stories and become really nice if they think you've got candy. :)

Ever-Changing Hair

In case it wasn't known, my roommate is a cosmetologist. This means that the nights we get bored my hair changes. In February my hair color changed twice, it went from one shade of dark to black. Callie still says it wasn't black, but it was my hair and I say it was black. Then in March shortly before my trip to Oregon we got bored again. I had spent over three years letting my hair grow out, but it was time for a change. As strange as this sounds cutting my hair became one more giant step toward healing. That night we cut nearly 7 inches of length off my hair and did an overall color of auburn and then added blonde highlights. (View picture) As I sit here tonight my hair is changing once again, we're going RED! It was a last minute decision. I made a comment to one of Callie's clients that I wanted my hair to be the same color as her's, so Callie pulled out the chair and covered me with hair dye..... (This picture doesn't do it justice...) This is what happens when we get too much time on our hands at home. :)

The Job Hunt...

Luckily my job hunt was not terribly long and stressful. I am currently working as an intern school counselor at Valley Junior High and loving it! I am working with the ninth graders, and as weird as they are they are so much fun to work with. A position came open at our school for next year and after surviving the most nerve-wracking interview EVER (it's no fun to interview with people you already know, you can't pull out all your very best interview BS) and a lot of teasing from co-workers, I was offered a full-time position at Valley. I am excited to stay at Valley and I'm excited to see changes take place and be part of making our Comprehensive Guidance program better for our students.

It begins...

I've been curious about creating a blog, so I thought I'd try it. I've got a lot more time on my hands now that I've graduated, and I love to share the few pictures I take so maybe I'll create a new hobby for myself.
