Six Years....

Tyler and I would have celebrated 6 years together yesterday, June 17th. June 17th was always a special day for us, one that Tyler never forgot, even when he was on his mission. I miss you Ty and I love you forever!

After all day long of setting our stuff up we now have a house. We are sore and feeling a little out of place, but we're making this place our's. I am writing this post from my new house. :) We had a big mess but it's taken care of. Thank you to Merrilee, Bob, Spence, Tad, Tammy, Kanuds, Josh, and Brad for all the help they gave us. I hope that everyone will come see our new place, everyone is welcome.

Where did the floor go?

Moving day has arrived. I have spent the last week filling boxes (although it hasn't been very hard, I just find a box and dump anything that fits in it). Our living room has slowly been filling up, and yesterday we hit the mother load, TONS of boxes (a BIG thank you to all who donated to the cause). Callie's mom, Merrilee, showed up last night to give us an extra boost. Callie was having a hard time getting started because she's sad to be leaving. Merr showed up and packed Callie's entire room last night. THANK YOU MERR! I got most of the rest of my room done and we got the entire kitchen packed. Finding breakfast was an adventure, all the food is in boxes! I think my favorite part is how we obtained some of our boxes. I made a trip to our local liquor store (picture that in your head) and they had boxes there for me. The Elders' Quorum and Relief Society may be helping us tonight and tomorrow, I can't wait to watch a bunch of Mormon kids carrying liquor boxes into a house. Neighbors beware!!! Then last night about 10:00 Merrilee and I drove to Wal-Mart and found a cart full of flattened boxes. Someone had told Merrilee that we could just take boxes that were put behind Wal-Mart, so we loaded up. However, when we got home I opened up one of the boxes and it read, "Return to Frito Lay." Then I remembered the cart had a Frito Lay sign on it. I guess that makes me a thief. I've been waiting all day for the cops to show up. The good news is, we were in Merrilee's car, so any security cameras will have her license plate number. Good luck in jail Merr, I'll come visit soon! Tonight we're moving most of our big furniture. Uncle Spence might bring home a box truck from his shop, so we will probably be able to get everything over there tonight. Then there will be more moving tomorrow.

Moving Day Approaches

I moved in with Callie at the end of November. We live in our aunt and uncle's (Robyn and Spence) basement apartment. We really like our house, but it has just come time to move. We have looked at a lot of places and since Callie and I are both very different people we have had a difficult time agreeing on anything. We really wanted to stay in the Holladay area so we would not have to go to a new ward, and we just like this area. Neither of us are financially able to buy a house of our own yet, so we still need to rent. A couple weeks ago Callie noticed a "For Rent" sign just down the street from us. We met the landlord and she showed us around the condo. We both liked it right away and it met almost all of our wishes. As we talked to the landlord we realized that she knows Robyn and Spence and our grandparents, so that gave us an instant in. This condo is right across the street from our Relief Society president, and new friend, Lisa, which got us even more excited. We found out Tuesday that our application had been accepted and we would be given the keys this coming week and would be able to move in starting the 14th. We're excited for the change and the bigger place, but we are sad to be leaving our nice apartment here.

Sarah the ......... WHAT?!?!

So, for those of you who know me well enough this should supply you with a good laugh. We are losing several teachers this year and their positions on different committees are needing to be filled. Our principal, Dr. Kenley, approached me on Thursday asking me for a favor. He asked me to go the Cheer Camp with our Cheerleaders for next year next week, and later that day he proceeded to ask me to be the cheer coach for next year. I just laughed at him, but when I saw that he was serious I asked if he had ever met me. He all but begged me to take a day to think about it. I thought about it and after having my grandmother look at me in shock when I told her, listening to my mother's laughter over the telephone, and listening to James mock me I decided to tell Bill no. However, he will not take no for an answer. He told me I should take another day (which is actually the weekend). It's really laughable that he wants me to be the cheer coach. I am probably the most uncoordinated, least graceful, and least talented when it comes to dancing than anyone else in that school. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.......

June 6-7 Relief Society Retreat

Bishop Anderson was able to borrow a cabin in Midway for us this weekend. The entire Relief Society was invited to spend the night at the cabin. Callie and I got to Midway about 5:30. We were able to spend the evening getting to know the girls in our ward a little better. After a dutch oven dinner the bishoprics' wives spoke to us. The focus of this retreat was "Finding Joy in the Journey." The talks that these 3 women gave were great and I learned a lot about each of them. However, the highlight of the trip was most definitely the karaoke. While I am NOT the karaoke type, there are several girls who are and they provided the entertainment for the evening. We were up until 1:30 a.m. watching routines. I would have to say that the gold medal performance would have to go to Heather. I don't know how that girl did not get worn out.
Another highlight of the evening was a demonstration by our very own CERTs. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. Five girls from our ward went to trainings for 8 weeks to become certified CERTs for our ward. They are now prepared to handle any emergency. They have recently finished their training and had practiced and perfected quite the show (fog machine and all). I was highly impressed, and also convinced that I will never be able to get up in front of a group of people and put on a performance quite as...... exciting. :)
We spent the night at the cabin and got home this morning about 11:30. Callie and I both had to got right back to bed for a nap. It was a fun night and I am glad that I have been so warmly welcomed into this ward. There are a lot of neat girls in our Relief Society.

3 More Days...

Today was our Year-End Assembly, and our SBOs and their adviser did a fantastic job! At the beginning of the year they informed our students that we would be donating hair to Locks of Love at the end of the year. So, our principal, Dr. Kenley, two of our SBOs, Lola and Liana, and a teacher, Mr. Gibbons chose to donate their hair today. We also had great performances from the Jazz Band and the Ensemble choir. The choir sang "Prayer of the Children" by Kurt Bestor. I love that song and whenever Kurt Bestor performs it in concert I get goosebumps. Our choir gave me the same feeling today. Our cheerleaders got to perform their very first stunt, and no one got hurt! Later, after Lola and Liana finished getting their hair styled they came to show me with a bunch of other ninth graders. I'm really going to miss these kids! During the assembly I sat next to one of the SBOs, Sabrina, and she sat and cried through the whole slideshow. When it was over she was still crying and she kept telling me that she was going to miss me. It was hard to keep myself composed. These have been my first group of kids and I have loved getting to know them, it's going to be difficult to say good-bye.... But, we still have two more days with the ninth graders and three more days with the seventh and eighth graders. Tomorrow is Lagoon Day and the Ninth Grade Activity. I get to chaperon Lagoon Day (really I'm just going to play).
