April 20, 2013 The Conversion begins at the Red and White Game

Remember how I love Utah football?  I don't understand much of anything about football, but I sure love my Utes!  D'Nell started off the 2013 Summer of Fun with the Utah Red and White Spring Game and of course I was totally up for that!  It was a rainy and cold day, but we made the sacrifice. :)  Guess who went with us...  the husband.  Let the conversion process begin.  (Insert maniacal laugh...)

In case you didn't recognize him, this is the hairy version of the husband.  He chose not to shave for 3 months after we got married.  Then, one morning it turned into this goatee.  Now, I didn't mind the full beard, but the goatee was a little hard for me to handle.  I threatened to quit shaving my legs if it didn't go away.  It took just over a week but it eventually went away (after some creepy experimenting with the razor which I chose not to document).

So, there you go, the first Ute football game that Travis will attend.  Don't worry, there will be more, and he will soon be wearing RED!

My super awesome fun Summer of Fun buddies Suzie and D'Nell.  Seriously, SO MUCH FUN!

Spring Break, The Second Half

April 3rd was our first full day in Disneyland and we had a ton of fun.  I sure love Disneyland!

We chose Wednesday to be our Splash Mountain day because it was going to be the warmest.  Ben was foolish enough to volunteer to sit in front.  Luckily we didn't get as wet as we did last year.

Ben wanted all of us to pretend we were asleep.  It just didn't happen.

Hello awesomeness!
Definitely my favorite ride, Space Mountain.

Wednesday night we watched World of Color.  What an amazing show!  It brings me to tears.  I just love the music and the movie clips and the amazing technology.  If you haven't been you definitely need to go.

Wednesday was a good day.  We enjoyed some great time with super fun students and some time with the other chaperones.

Thursday was Disneyland day number 2.  Kjersti and I bought matching shirts (because we're cool like that) and spent a leisurely day exploring Disneyland and California Adventure.  We were able to attend the Improv workshop with students that day and enjoyed watching the instructor.  Thursday ended up being quite an adventure for us, sick students and assisting a handicapped man when he was injured in an accident.  I was grateful for the opportunity to help someone in need and was deeply touched by the incredible compassion a couple of the other women in our group showed for a man they had never met.  We were surrounded by amazing people, and I consider them to be angels on earth.

Friday it was time to pack up, load the buses, and head home.  I was looking forward to being home and seeing Travis.
On the second day of our trip our room keys no longer worked to unlock the door.  We discovered, however, that the windows did not lock and by simply pushing on the window and sliding it would open. We spent the majority of our trip climbing in the window to our room.  Sure makes you feel super secure...

I was grateful for the opportunity to go on this trip.  I love some good quality Kjersti time, and Disneyland is never more fun than when it's with Kjersti.  You would think that because I work with teenagers on a daily basis I wouldn't want to spend my Spring Break with more teenagers, but these students are so much fun and quite responsible and a joy to be around.  It's been a great experience for me.

Spring Break Adventures With My Favorite Awesome Kjersti, Take 1

Last year over Spring Break Kjersti invited me to go to Disneyland with her and the Hunter High School Performing Arts tour.  Of course I went!  We had an amazing time!  So, last summer when Kjersti asked me to go again I didn't hesitate.  Then I got engaged....  Yep, didn't change any Disneyland plans.  The first week of April rolled around this year and we were off on a really long bus ride.  While it was harder to leave home this year I was excited for some Kjersti and Disney time.

Monday April 1st we arrived in Disneyland.  We got there about 6:30 p.m., dropped our bags in our room and then were off to Disneyland.
Our first stop was the Earl of Sandwich.  Seriously DELICIOUS sandwiches!  LOVE!  As soon as we were done with our sandwiches we rushed over to Carsland.  Oh my how I love that place!  It was totally amazing!  We jumped in line for the new Cars ride and officially began our Disney adventure.  Helpful hint:  That ride is new, and therefore the line is always more than 2 hours long and Fast Passes sell our unbelievably quickly, ride as single riders.  We only waited 45 minutes and got to make new friends.

Tuesday morning we were awake and ready bright and early and headed toward Hollywood.  I was excited for that day because I had never been in to Hollywood before.  We started the day with a Double Decker Bus Tour.  Our tour guide was fantastic and even rapped for us.  "I'm alive in L.A.!"

After our tour we were on our way to the Grauman's Chinese Theatre and Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum.  SO MUCH FUN!

Best Sarah and Kjersti picture of ALL time!

After our Hollywood excitement we went to the most important place... the BeAcH!  Hello, Santa Monica Pier.
So incredibly perfect!  There's just something about the sand and the ocean that make my heart unbelievably happy.

While I love the ocean, I realize that even though we're in California the water is cold.  However, teenagers who have never seen the ocean before are not terribly wise.  This group was completely nutso!
This is as much of me as I allowed in the water.

We were so cute posing for pictures when the water rushed in unexpectedly and it was cold!

And there are our crazies.  Gotta love them.

After the beach we went back to the hotel to clean up and then we were able to go to the Pirate Adventure Show.  The acrobatics were super fun to watch!

 Photo bombed!

We had an amazingly fun day.  Got to see new things and had a great time!

Next stop Disneyland!
