I should write a book titled "The Adventures of Sarah" and have co-authors who are the people who are subjected to the roller coaster ride that my life has become. Today was just fun and exciting.
Today was not a contract day at work. But, because I felt slightly guilty about the pile on my desk and about not being at school the Friday before school starts I decided to go in for a couple hours this morning. Kjersti and I have decided to carpool since she is living so close to me now, so she rode with me this morning. We decided to get to school early. We arrived at 7 a.m. and left at 9:30 a.m. When we got in my car it would not start. I got our fantastically wonderful secretary, Juliene, to come help me jump my car. I thought this was a pretty funny thing so I wasn't even stressed because I was laughing so much, and this isn't an entirely uncommon event with my dear car.Juliene got my car started and Kjersti and I took off down 3200 West. We got all the way to 4700 South (maybe 2 blocks from school) and I stopped to wait my turn to turn left. When I went to make the turn my car was no longer functioning. It was lovely. I tried to turn on my hazard lights, but those didn't even work. The ironic thing about that is, whenever Tyler was in my car he would always turn the hazard lights on. He thought it was funny because it drove me crazy. I spent most of every car trip holding my right hand over the hazard light button so he couldn't get to it. And now during a moment that I needed my hazard lights and wanted them to be on they didn't work. I'm sure Tyler laughing hysterically, but I didn't think it was very funny! Kjersti is amazing and pushed my car from the left turn lane to the right turn lane and then around the corner to the shoulder. As soon as we started pushing the car 5 men seemed to appear out of nowhere and helped us push the car. There are still good people in this world! Thank you whoever you are!!! So, once again I called Juliene just because she is so handy and she drives a truck AND I knew she would have a tow rope. She told me she'd come save me (Juliene is pretty much my hero by this point) and I called Dad. I also called Mason, but he laughed at me, so he wasn't much help.
"WWWHHHYYYYY me????"
9:55 a.m. and Kjersti needed to be home by 10:00. She was very patient though!
I know when to admit defeat, I lost this one.
Still not home! Kjersti decided I need to buy a new car.
Have I mentioned that Juliene is my hero?
Juliene teaching me how to drive a car that is being towed.
Kjersti is still not home yet and this does not look like a very patient face....
Juliene found us and hooked up the tow rope (do you understand now why I think she is one of the nicest people ever???) and I had the privilege of being the dork sitting in the car being towed. I always feel sorry for those people when I see them, today I was that person. Juliene got us back to school and then Dad got there. Dad and I tried to jump my car again, and no matter how many times I turned the key it just wouldn't start. Dad and I gave up and pushed my car into a parking spot and I ran inside to talk to the principal, Dave. I was explaining my situation to Dave and he said, "Do you want me to come take a look at it?" I said, "Oh, you're a car guy?" He hopped up and followed me outside. His best guess is that some magical switch (which I can't remember the name of) on the starter was out, and that would lead to needing a new starter. We figured I would probably need a new battery also. Add on top of that the fact that there is absolutely no way my car will pass the emissions test in September and it's not worth the cost of the repair that needs to be made. To make a really long story a little shorter, I spent the evening car shopping with Mason. I haven't found anything that I'm in love with yet, so I am currently without transportation and I have never felt so isolated and stranded before! I've been trying to plan my day tomorrow and everything is hampered by the fact that I do not have a car. I will be holding services for my car date and time have not yet been determined... Unless of course anyone wants to buy a car, I've got one for sale that I will give you a great deal on! ;)
Once again, Juliene to the rescue!
