Labor Day Weekend = Eastern Idaho State Fair! YEEHAW!

This year for Labor Day weekend I went with Kandus, Michele, and Tami to Idaho. We stayed with Michele's parents in Thomas and had so much fun with them. They were wonderful to open up their home to us so willingly!
We went to Idaho to spend time at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. Apparently this fair is well-known because everyone I talked to before I went knew where I was going. (Everyone except for me, that is!) We had tons of fun and ate WAY too much food. Needless to say, I will be spending even more time on the treadmill for the next little while...

Saturday morning Michele's niece, Kylie (aka Monkey) joined us for a day of fun. We wanted to have a relaxed weekend so we didn't head to the fair until lunch time and we started off the eating extravaganza!

Kylie, Tami, Michele, and Kandus

We walked through the petting zoo and I got to pet a goat. They were all so cute! I wanted to take one home with me! But, the roommate and the cats wouldn't have appreciated that much...

Kylie making friends with a turtle.

The horses were so fun to see! I have always loved horses and it's fun to get up close and pet their noses.

There was a trailer set up for the Idaho State Lottery and Tami and I won $1 million!!!! Time to retire!

Kylie won too!!

Our first funnel cake. I thoroughly enjoyed this caramel funnel cake and was quite grateful that Kandus shared it with me, it helped me feel a little less guilty.

More food... Tortatoes and scone nuggets. Just my luck, at this moment I ran into one of my students. I can't even escape work by leaving the state!

The Clydesdales were quite friendly. :)

Definitely the biggest horse I've ever seen!

Saturday night we returned to the fair after a well earned nap to watch the bull riding competition. Not only are the cowboys nice to look at (at any distance) they are pretty brave if you ask me. Two cowboys got hurt pretty badly during their rides. We're pretty sure there were broken legs and torn ACLs involved.

Now, I know this picture is blurry, but have you ever seen anything so cute?!

Me and Michele

Tami, Kandus, and Michele's nephew Christian (aka Bug)

Don't you just want to cuddle with this cute face?! "Sleep moo kitty, sleep."

The first thing I wanted to do when we got to Michele's parents was to go cow tipping (yep, I sure am a city girl). So, here Tami is fulfilling my wish!

This cute little girl was very insistent that we pet her baby cow, Lollipop. I happily complied. It was SO soft!

Tami, Kandus, and our new friends

Look at that face!!! I can't believe Grandma Shirley used to call them mean names!

Hot stuff in my new cowboy hat!

We headed for home Monday evening. After all the fair fun and eating we were all worn out. Michele rarely naps, so I thought it was picture worthy.

We found the 2 bags of cotton candy!!!

Whose idea was it to let Tami drive anyway???

I felt that it was important to keep Tami awake any way I could....

I was successful! All I can say is that it's a good thing I'm not a cotton candy fan, I provided the only sanity in the car after 2 bags of cotton candy were consumed in less than 30 minutes.

Aw, I love the fair! And it's true...You can't leave the state without running into students; that's just how it is! It can definitely be frustrating, that's for sure. :)
