One Year Down... Forever To Go.

January 19, 2014 was our one year wedding anniversary.  Whoever placed their bet for one year, you lose!  Since it was a long weekend for me, Travis decided to take a day off and we headed south (wishing we had been heading in the same direction we went for our honeymoon).  We spent Friday night at a hotel in Brian Head, which was quite nice.  It made me wish I had learned to love skiing all those times I went when I was younger.  The idea of a ski lodge seems so relaxing and idealistic.

Saturday we drove the rest of the way to Las Vegas.  Travis had booked us a room at The Venetian, and I have to admit, he did quite well.  What a beautiful room!!!  He was very proud of himself.

We got trapped by a time share group while we were trying to navigate the maze that is The Venetian, and in a moment of weakness we agreed to listen to their presentation the following morning in exchange for tickets to Cirque du Soleil Mystere and tickets to the Treasure Island buffet.  Sunday morning we met our group and instead of the promised "only 120 minutes" we were trapped a bullied for 4 hours.  I was so angry I was near the point of tears.  What a terrible way to spend the morning of your first wedding anniversary, and you'd better believe I left that opinion on my exit survey.

However, the rest of the day turned out to be rather lovely.  We went shopping and then to our dinner and show.  Cirque du Soleil was FANTASTIC!  I couldn't believe half the things I saw.  I would love to see more shows.

Because Travis had taken Monday off we were able to stay until Monday and slowly make our way home.  In Cedar City we stopped at a gas station attached to a tire shop.  One of the men from the shop was out perusing the parking lot and noticed a problem with our back passenger side tire.  He pointed it out to Travis, put it up on the lift and sure enough, our tire was completely bald and had a nail in it.  $670 later we had 4 new tires.  We were frustrated with the unexpected expense, but grateful that we were safe and able to afford the new tires.

Never a dull moment....  Happy anniversary Travis!  I'm looking forward to the adventures in year 2.
