Cake! Yum!

A few days after our 1 year anniversary we broke out our frozen wedding cake.  Everyone who I had talked to about this tradition said their cake tasted horrible, so I was slightly hesitant.  But, this is the layer both of us were most excited about so I didn't want to just throw it away.

Let me tell you about our wedding cake.  Dorcas Woodward made our cake for us.  This was really the only part of the wedding planning process that Travis was interested in, and I was excited to have him involved in something.  We wanted 3 offset square layers, no fondant (yuck!), and polka dots all over.  Our bottom tier was chocolate and vanilla marbled cake with chocolate ganache filling, our middle tier was almond cake with raspberry filling, and our top layer was chocolate cake with peanut butter filling.  Dorcas had never done peanut butter filling, so I sent her all of my peanut butter frosting recipes and she took it from there.  The bottom 2 tiers were delicious!  We were lucky and our reception center boxed up pieces for us so we could have more than the one bite.  However, the layer we were most excited about was boxed up and frozen, so we were anxious to give it a try.

DELICIOUS!!!  Seriously, there is nothing about my cake I would have changed, and the top tier did not disappoint.  I was so sad when we finally finished it off.  The frosting Dorcas used was amazing and the cake was awesome and the filling was exactly what we wanted.  I loved it!  Best. Wedding. Cake. EVER!
