Happy Super Bowl! Help Us Eat Leftover Cake!

February 3, 2013 was the Super Bowl.  We went to Cory and Mindy's house with Travis' groom's cake in hand.  It hadn't been served at the wedding, so my parents had it in their freezer.  We didn't know what to do with a whole cake, so we figured a football cake was appropriate for a Super Bowl party.

Let me tell you the story behind this cake....  Travis really had no interest in any wedding planning except the cake.  He wanted a groom's cake.  It was the only thing about the wedding that he truly got excited about.  So, when my mom and I met with the cake lady, Dorcas Woodward (she was AWESOME!) Travis tagged along.  He wanted a BYU football field.  I said, "Not at my wedding!"  so we had to compromise,  I got one endzone.  Travis' next request was that it was chocolate cake, "so it would look like dirt when we cut it" with vanilla frosting that was dyed blue.  He was quite giddy about the whole thing.  When we got to the reception we were blown away by how awesome this cake turned out.  The BYU football player at the end was a complete surprise to us, and everyone loved it.  At the reception someone pulled my dad aside and said, "Explain the wedding cake to me."  My dad quickly said, "That is NOT the wedding cake, the tall white one over there is the wedding cake."  I was just glad that Travis was excited about something wedding related. :)
The Super Bowl party was also a February birthdays celebration, so some creativity took place and the goal posts because candles.

The cake was delicious, as was our wedding cake.  The frosting was amazing!  We were so pleased with Dorcas' hard work!
