This is my illegal countdown chain. My principal HATES my countdown chain. He thinks it, "Does not send a positive message to students." Umm, hello! It totally sends a positive message. The message is this, "Summer is coming! Hooray!!!" In my mind that is the most positive message EVER! Let me tell you the story behind this disagreement.
A few years ago I had a terrible year and I created my countdown chain in February, and you better believe I hung it up in the middle of the Counseling Center. My principal didn't say anything about it until the next year. February rolled around again and he told me I could not make my countdown chain. Well, I wasn't going to take that lying down, so we had an argument. He wouldn't budge, so I created my own compromise and then informed him that is how it was going to be (I may have my principal wrapped around my finger...). He was informed that I would be making my countdown chains every year, but I promised not to display them until after Spring Break. I left a loophole, I totally still create my countdown chains before Spring Break, but they just stay quietly in my office until we return from Spring Break. So, this picture was taken a couple weeks before Spring Break. My countdown chain is now proudly hanging on the large bulletin board in the Counseling Center sending the positive message of, "Woohoo! Summer is nearly here!" I win!
