My New Year's Resolution is now half way complete! I've been quite successful so far and I have loved this goal! June concert (#1, because there will be 2 this month!) was Daughtry with Safetysuit. It was at Abravanel Hall, which I found slightly strange, but ended up highly enjoying a concert at that venue. There weren't any big heads in front of me, our seats were pretty good, and we had assigned seats. :)
Mike Sanchez (who I had never heard of) was the first opener. Janelle and I had a good laugh before the concert started. One of the ushers (not used to having those at concerts) came up to us and gave us an exact timeline of how the evening was going to go. We knew how long each act would play and then how long we would have to wait between acts. It was great! We aren't used to concerts starting on time and only having to wait 10 minutes between bands.
Beginning in the front: Jeanna, Kandus, me, Janelle, and Emily.
Safetysuit was next. I was honestly more excited for Safetysuit than I was for Daughtry, and so was Janelle. They were great! The lead singer, Doug, was all sorts of hyperactive. He was jumping and running all over the stage. It wore me out watching him. They have great music. If you haven't listened to them I would highly recommend that you do!
Right as the last song was about to begin Doug did an intense fist pump and then I watched his arm go limp against his side. He stumbled around for a few moments and his bandmates tried to help him. When he was given the microphone back he informed us that he had dislocated his shoulder, and then he crumpled to the floor. As he spoke to us he laid out flat on the stage and informed us he was going to try to put his shoulder back in. I just couldn't watch it. Yuck! After a minute he said, "Nope. This isn't going to work." and then performed his last song in this lump on the floor. There was a large number of people waiting at the stage door to help him off the stage. Talk about dedication!
Oh, the pain!
After a 20 minute break Daughtry hit the stage. They are great live. This is my second Daughtry concert and I really enjoyed it!
What a great night! So glad we went to this show!
Up next... Keane on June 26th. Two June concerts!!
